April – June 2025

See here now was an exhibition at Grizedale Forest Gallery (4th April – 8th June 2025) by PLACE Collective artists addressing the theme ‘Art in a Time of Urgency’. It asked: How are artists responding to local and global climate and nature crises? What does their work bring into focus, which absences does it highlight, whose voices are brought in?

Mike’s piece was called ‘The Dawn Chorus: A Tapestry of Sound.’ Sir Edward Grey, in his book the ‘Charm of Birds’, described the dawn chorus as “a tapestry translated into sound.” This lovely description accurately describes the embodied, woven, shimmering and sonic experience Mike has had when listening to a dawn chorus.
