{"id":1179,"date":"2022-10-22T21:15:44","date_gmt":"2022-10-22T20:15:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mikecollier.co.uk\/?p=1179"},"modified":"2022-10-25T19:58:42","modified_gmt":"2022-10-25T18:58:42","slug":"1179","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mikecollier.co.uk\/index.php\/2022\/10\/22\/1179\/","title":{"rendered":"Dawn Chorus"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In this set of digital prints, I have transcribed a set of pneumatic notations (based on early Medieval notations) onto a circular system of drawings influenced initially by the experimental notations of Roland Kayan in his extraordinary works &#8216;Galaxis&#8217; and &#8216;A Little Electronic Milky Way of Sound&#8217;. Kayan explored what he called the idea of cybernetic music, explaining the idea behind his scores by using the example of throwing stones in the water.&nbsp; \u201cYou get those circles \u2026 it&#8217;s about the crossings,\u201d he said. In addition to the sixteen bird species in previous pieces, I have included here Swallow, Goldfinch, Blackcap and Treecreeper. I continue to work with notations abstracted from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/geoffsample?__cft__%255B0%255D=AZVT16LOsB8kddm7nTFWU0WwXl_vnA-TJag93hu0MhbcxDBg3QaNXjAjksALPHUoUZLg_OJrqVmvn9ic9Lj97f8fIz3kpo-j33SP60YUHOe9AAyOijw4Kr9lMjoA6AsDTIbxVZLbee08NNx0PTwr4Ph3OD2dGECKim9h9aqWtpx5NA&amp;__tn__=-%255DK-R\">Geoffrey Sample<\/a>&#8216;s sonograms of field recordings. Geoff&#8217;s depth of knowledge is inspirational.
