He studied Fine Art at<br>Goldsmiths College before being appointed Gallery Manager at the ICA in<br>London. He subsequently became a freelance curator and arts organiser,<br>working extensively in the UK and abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1985 he moved to Newcastle to run the Arts Development Strategy at the Laing Art Gallery, where he initiated the Tyne International Exhibition of Contemporary Art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was Professor of Fine Art at the University of Sunderland for twenty years and is currently Emeritus Professor of Art and Ecology, University of Sunderland. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His studio is in Cobalt, Newcastle-upon-Tyne: <a href=\"https:\/\/cobaltstudios.co.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">cobaltstudios.co.uk<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button is-style-outline\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"http:\/\/mikecollier.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/mc-cv-25.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Download Mike&#8217;s CV<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mike Collier is an artist, writer and curator.
